During the 1920s the United States enacted Prohibition, making the sale of alcohol illegal. Moonshining was born. Moonshing is homemade liquor. Johnson’s father had a still in rural Wilkes County, N.C. where he made moonshine. This is how Junior learned to race by hauling moonshine and outrunning the law.
